A.K. McCallum Co. first open the doors for business in 1945 as World War II was ending. The founder and proprietor Arthur K. McCallum (known as Mac) began operation as an appliance and hardware store at the present location in Fayetteville, NC. In 1947, while attending a show, Mac was offered the Johnson Outboard dealership and being an avid fisherman and hunter, seized on the opportunity and thus began A.K. McCallum Co. as it is today.
A.K. McCallum Co. added boats to go along with the outboard motors and along the way has sold everything from wood boats to upscale fiberglass boats. At one time A.K. McCallum Co. offered Boston Whaler, Ranger bass boats, and introduced many boat lines to this area. In 1986, a decision to specialize in aluminum boats was made and with the first boat catalog being published in the same year, A.K. McCallum Co. evolved into the operation it is presently.
A.K. McCallum Co. continues to grow each year due to its loyal customers and has become nationally known for the aluminum Jon boats and accessories it sells each year. A.K. McCallum Co. receives top sales awards from boat companies and was recently awarded for being named one of the top 10 Tohatsu dealers in the U.S. and the largest Long Boat trailer dealer in the U.S.
Presently, A.K. McCallum Co. continues to offer Yamaha and Tohatsu outboards. A.K. McCallum Co. 15000 square ft. showroom and Service Department also displays the area's largest selection of marine accessories and fishing supplies.
